Three-storey Spenfield House is historically significant. Built in 1876 for the banker James Walker Oxley, the architect was George Corson, who designed other landmark buildings in Leeds including the Grand Theatre and City Library.
As part of the Spenfield Court project, which has a gross development value of £7m, the mansion will be converted into six apartments and one studio, with many period features being restored. In the grounds, seven contemporary townhouses will be built.
